Hello and welcome to MIG Eyewear
The roots of MIG Eyewear go back to 2002 when Rob started working as a sole trader before branching out to form MIG Eyewear Ltd in 2010. Passionate about every aspect of eyewear, Rob has spent all of his working life in the optics industry. Before he transitioned into selling eyewear, Rob started his career making, glazing, and repairing frames. He has been involved in the eyewear industry since he left school. That very first job inspired a lifelong obsession with eyewear.
Selling eyewear has enabled Rob to travel the world, visiting the best optical stores throughout Europe, Scandinavia, America, and Australia. He’s had the opportunity to get a firsthand glimpse into the technical workshops in Japan, visit vast production lines in Italy and watch the small family companies at work honing their craft.
Today, Rob continues to embrace his passion for innovative, unique, and one-of-a-kind eyewear, working with some of the most aspirational and artisanal eyewear brands in the market, like John Dalia, Chrome Hearts and L.G.R. Known for their luxury, high-end pieces of eyewear, these brands are desired and admired across the globe. With Rob’s son Amos joining the company in 2022, it’s an exciting time for MIG Eyewear.

What inspired you to establish MIG Eyewear?
I hated working in a corporate environment. And I wanted to do something where the success or failure would be solely down to me.
What’s the best thing about running your own business?
That’s an easy one to answer. I love the independence and the luxury of being able to travel the world. This line of work has also enabled me to meet some wonderful, cool creative people.
What’s been the highlight of your career so far. Any interesting stories?
Meeting and becoming friends with Steve Jones from the Sex Pistols is a highlight. I have many stories I could tell. But I’d rather not share them as some could see me in a lot of trouble if they came out!
To what do you attribute your success?
When I find that out, I’ll let you know. But to put it into words I’d say, “love what you do and give a shit”.
What are your company goals for the future?
Amos joining me has given me a new incentive to bring together some of the finest eyewear collections in the world. So, we can offer them to our customers, the best optical stores in the UK and Scandinavia.
